The gene on chromosome 8p22-p21 that encodes dihydropyrimidinase-like 2 (OMIM: 602463, UniProtKB: Q16555), a member of the collapsin response mediator protein family, which form homotetramers and heterotetramers. It plays a role in neuronal development and polarity, as well as in axon growth and guidance, neuronal growth cone collapse and cell migration.

Molecular pathology Defects of DPYSL2 has been implicated in multiple neurological disorders; hyperphosphorylation of the encoded protein may play a role in the development of Alzheimer’s disease.

Synonyms Unc-33-like phosphoprotein 2, CRMP2, DRP2, N2A3, ULIP2, collapsin response mediator protein HCRMP-2, dihydropyrimidinase-related protein 2, collapsin response mediator protein 2, DHPRP2, DRP2
