humanized milk

NUTRITION

A modified formulation of cow milk, the fat ratio of which (40% casein, 60% whey) closely mimics human milk.

Humanised milk, when it becomes readily available, would be indicated for infants weighing under 2000 kg. A research group in China created a type of humanised milk by inserting the gene for lysozyme in cows, resulting in milk with a greater content of lysozyme, which is abundant in human, but not bovine, milk. They claimed in 2011 it would be ready for the market by 2014. I saw nothing relevant in peer-reviewed literature in early 2016.

One website (www.greenprophet.com) characterised GMO humanised milk as Udderly Creepy…Yak, Yak…

Synonym Humanised milk
