DNA diet

DNA diet image from New Medical Terms

A popular term for a fad diet which is said to be guided by nutrigenomics.

The Sciona, Inc version of DNA diet (DD) is based on the presence or absence of 19 genes. Per Sciona, the battery of genes is used to assess bone and cardiovascular health, antioxidants, detoxification, insulin resistance, and inflammation, from which Sciona recommends dietary changes to counteract genetic weaknesses. Several other fad diets have used the term DD and permutations thereof. As far as I can see, the data are weak, the studies underpowered and the results supporting the efficacy of various “DNA diets” biased and dubious.

Caveat emptor.

Synonym Sciona diet
