The blood group diet (BGD) is a fad diet based on pseudoscience penned by one Doctor Peter D’Adamo, a naturopath, who claims that different nutrients are broken down in the body based on the person’s blood type. For some blood types, the diet eschews dairy products, wheat or grains. The diet also recommends sports–golf or aerobics, etc., for each blood type.
That mainstream experts have trashed the diet and fret that following it may lead to calcium and iron deficiency, has not stopped celebrities–e.g., Liz Hurley, Courtney Cox, Cheryl Cole, and Sir Cliff Richard from extolling its (dubious) virtues.
