A popular term for the fruit of cactus genus Hylocereus, which is high in vitamin C, linoleic, oleic and palmitic acids. The polyphenols in dragon fruit skin inhibit tumour formation.

Dragon fruit originated in Mexico. It is now cultivated in many tropical and subtropical regions.
