A popular term for the diagnostic assessment of images–e.g., from pathology–cytology, surgical pathology or radiology–CT, MRI, mammography, by either a second pair of eyes–i.e., by another pathologist or radiologist, or by the same physician at a different diagnostic session.

Double reading of mammograms is said to increase cancer detection by up to 15%
