mega author paper
INFORMATICS, SCIENCE JOURNALISM
A scientific communication or journal article with dozens of co-authors. While the term has not been formally defined, any journal article with 50 or more people sharing in authorship glory, could be reasonably regarded as a mega-author paper.
Until 1990, 1-2 papers/year in medicine had 100+ authors; by 1994, nearly 40 papers had 100+ authors
Note: In the trade book industry, mega author is a noun and refers to a prolific writer
