haptic interface

INFORMATICS

A user interface that allows a computer or robotics-driven device to interpret input human touch.

Haptic interfaces are used in surgical rehearsal systems to imitate the body’s reaction to touch, and incorporate the data provided into minimally invasive instruments to give surgeons a better feel for the local environment without physically violating tissue barriers and planes.
