IMMUNOLOGY

Definition A line of mice bred to have very high or very low antibody responsiveness to various antigens, related to quantitative trait loci on chromosome 8. Biozzi mice are susceptible to induced immune diseases such as autoimmune encephalomyelitis, autoimmune neuritis, autoimmune uveitis, as well as virus-induced demyelination and are thus a key model for studying human inflammatory neurological diseases–e.g., multiple sclerosis (image).
