Mixed Medical Commission

A group of medical doctors who regularly visited prisoner-of-war camps during World War 2 for the purpose of deciding who among the sick and wounded were to be repatriated, including obvious (limbless, blind, active tuberculosis) and less obvious cases–e.g., peptic ulcer disease, renal failure: one doctor was appointed by the detaining country (Britain, Germany), the two others were appointed from a neutral country–e.g., Sweden, Switzerland, Ireland, Spain, Portugal, etc.
