Definition A scoring system (popularly, LODS) first proposed in 1996 for predicting mortality in patients admitted to ICUs

The LODS dataset was based on 14745 consecutive patients admitted to 137 medical, surgical, or mixed intensive care units (ICUs) in 12 different countries. It excluded burn patients, coronary care patients, and cardiac surgery patients. LODS also be accurate for cardiac surgery patients.
