inductive criminal profiling

FORENSIC PSYCHIATRY

Definition Inductive criminal profiling is the extrapolation of a suspect’s future criminal behaviour from known behaviours and emotions, as suggested by other criminals, crime scenes, and/or victims

Some workers regard inductive criminal profiling as subjective and even sloppy, as it makes broad generalisations, statistical stretches, guesses, logic and reasoning that may be fraught with error.

Synonym Inductive profiling
