health care serial killer: Jack the Ripper

FORENSIC PSYCHIATRY

A health care worker–which may include doctors, nurses and others in close contact with patients–who kills repeatedly before getting caught–if he/she is ever caught

Examples Allitt—Beverley, Petiot—Marcel, the Ripper—Jack*, Shipman—Harold, Swango—Michael

*Some believe that the way in which Jack’s victims died suggests that he was a doctor or had a medical background. Criminologists believe that many healthcare serial killers are undetected, because they know how to cover up their crimes, and it is harder to prove that a death was unnatural.
