survival analysis

EVIDENCE-BASED MEDICINE, TRIALS

Assessment of the amount of time that a person or population will live,

• Once diagnosed with a specific condition, or

• After undergoing a particular type of intervention, or

• Until the occurrence of an event of interest

Survival analysis–SA includes procedures that compare survival curves. SA is a critical step in assessing data from clinical trials, which uses life-tables with cumulative survival rates, from which a distribution curve or set of probabilities of a person receiving a therapeutic protocol of surviving certain time intervals, can be derived.
