interventional clinical trial

A clinical trial that intervenes with the inviolability (here, safety) of a trial subject for the purpose of the investigation, which may include administration of an investigational medical product to the subject or use of some extra means of intervention–i.e., sampling, testing, or administration of a questionnaire which would not otherwise be used.
