Reiter syndrome, formerly, now, reactive arthritis


An eponym for what is better termed (see below) reactive arthritis.

During World War II, Hans Conrad Julius Reiter (1881-1969), a physician leader of the Nazi party, authorised medical experiments on concentration camp prisoners, which led to the deaths of at least 250 prisoners at the Buchewald and other concentration camps. The term Reiter syndrome is now regarded as a misnomer
