Definition The title of an anonymous, personal account of the mercy killing of a young woman dying of terminal ovarian cancer by the author, a gynaecology resident/specialist registrar, written in the Piece of my Mind column of the Journal of the American Medical Association 1988; 259:272

Comment It’s Over, Debbie became an early battle cry of the euthanasia movement. For those supporting the young doctor’s action, Debbie was emaciated, racked with pain and per the young doctor, wanted to get it–presumably the dying process–over with. The ensuing polemic was enormous; doctors are 4:1 against mercy killing
