The seminal case that brought the issue of physician-assisted dying into public fora.

Janet Atkins, a woman with early Alzheimer’s disease approached Dr Jack Kevorkian, a retired pathologist, for his assistance in dying; Kevorkian designed a machine that allowed her to give herself a lethal injection.
