Definition A pseudodiagnostic technique in which a drop of fresh blood is evaluated by darkfield microscopy.

In darkfield microscopy, RBCs (erythrocytes) and WBCs (white lood cells) stand out against a dark background which, when shown to an unsophisticated individual, is an impressive “finding” that can be used to convince a person that he is suffering from virtually any condition that the “practitioner” pretends to “treat”.
