Chlorella pyrenoidosa

A species of fresh water green alga, which allegedly has therapeutic potential for chelating dioxins from the body, reducing blood pressure, lowering cholesterol, accelerating wound healing, and enhancing immune functions.

It is said to be anticarcinogenic in experimental animals, and increase survival in patients with breast cancer and leukaemia. Whilst Chlorella pyrenoidosa is packaged and sold in tablet form in nutrient supplement emporia, the data supporting its health benefits are weak and do not appear in peer-reviewed journals, suggesting that any benefits of Chlorella pyrenoidosa use are anecdotal at best.
