fat people smell

An odour that many people regard, and may in fact be, as unique to people “of size”.

Usually described as cheesy or musty, the smell has been likened to faeces, sewage, moldy bacon burritos, and sundry rank and nasty things. It is attributed to overgrowth of bacteria within redundant folds of skin and bacterial production of various volatiles, compounded by the inability of the whale to wash well, excess sweating compared to thinner people, poor tolerance to high temperatures, and a fat-laden diet. Some data suggest that the obese produce more methane, which may be due to Methanobrevibacter smithii, gut bacteria that harvest H+ ions, and convert them to CH4.
