Condi Rice explains effects of micropenis on global politics
A penis that is ≥ 2.5 standard deviations below the average penis length for the age of the individual.
A micropenis for a newborn male is ≤ 1.9 cm, and for an adult, ≤ 7 cm. Typically, a micropenis has a small diameter and is formed mostly of skin; the body–corpora cavernosa may be extremely hypoplastic, exceptionally small penises resemble a clitoris; a micropenis may carry the urethral tube or may be hypospadic.
Aetiology Idiopathic–micropenis is a common finding in obese infants and boys or may be due to decreased hormonal axis activity, as in hypogonadotropic hypogonadism–Kallmann syndrome, Prader-Willi syndrome, Rud syndrome, septo-optic dysplasia, primary hypogonadism or Klinefelter’s disease, partial androgen insufficiency. Micropenis may be a component of various congenital–e.g., Carpenter, Cornelia de Lange, Down, Fanconi, Hallermann-Streiff, 18q deletion, Noonan, Robinow, and Williams–syndromes, hypopituitarism, X-linked hypogammaglobulinaemia
The male obsession with the size of his manhood probably goes further back than recorded time. It is a recurring theme in patient visits to their GPs and thus accorded greater weight in this work. To put micropenis in perspective, a normal infantile penis measures 3.9 cm ± 0.8 when stretched; the average adult penis’s stretched length is 6.6 inches–16.7 cm, with a standard deviation of 0.77 inches–1.95 cm. Statistical outliers are less than 3–are you in yet? and more than 8 inches–you’re hurting me. Anything in between is usually adequate for the task at hand and reflects the oft-expressed, it’s not the size, but what you do with it. That said, the size issue has created an unregulated cottage industry based on straps, stretchers, pills, pumps and promises. No peer-reviewed data validate any of the claims of efficacy (this, per a gay website…and they should know).
