The glamourised visual presentation in advertisements, infomercials, cooking shows or other mass media, of calorie- and/or fat-rich foods or exotic dishes that arouse a desire to eat, or of the glorification of food as a substitute for sex. 

The term food porn has been attributed to feminist critic Rosalind Coward in her 1984 book Female Desire, which has an array of definitions, all of which refer to attractive and stylistic presentation of food with an undercurrent of sexuality.
