PUBLIC HEALTH, SEXOLOGY

The sexuoerotic practice of thrusting the hand—usually not, as the name suggests, a clenched fist—in the vagina, or rectum and lower gastrointesinal tract.

Complications Prolapsed haemorrhoids, non-specific proctitis, perirectal abscesses, penile oedema, anal fissures and fistulas, transmural laceration of the colon, peritonitis and death.

The frequency with which this practice–largely confined to homosexual males—is associated with mucosal tearing in the fistee, or coliform dermatitis in the fister part is unknown. Fisting is performed gradually over hours; fisted objects may be very large, and include the arm, foot, etc, inserted into the lumen of the vagina–brachiovaginal eroticism or anus–brachioproctic eroticism or both orifices simultaneously.

Synonyms Brachioproctic eroticism, brachiovaginal eroticism, fist fucking, fist intercourse, handballing
