cougar—big cat on prowl

cougar

SEXOLOGY, SOCIOLOGY

A popular term for an older (30s to 50s) woman on the prowl,  who is intent on bedding a younger man.

Cougars are often financially independent, successful, physically attractive and typically disenchanted with men of their same age, who have let themselves go, i.e., are fat and boring (and bald). These human big cats hunt in bars and night clubs, on beaches and similar surrogate Serengetis. Unlike their cousins, the household cat, Felis cattus, or in this analogy, younger women, cougars don’t play with their prey, but rather go straight for the kill.
