Rodney Dangerfield syndrome
A popular term for the disparaging pall cast in US health care on family practice, pediatrics and other primary care specialities, which have not garnered the same respect as medical or surgical specialists.
Coined by Dr Robert G Petersdorf, past head of the Association of American Colleges after the late American comedian Rodney Dangerfield (1921-2004) whose trademark comic line was ‘…I don’t get no respect.’
