Mel Gibson syndrome, here as an angry Scot

A syndrome that occurs when a celebrity–e.g., Mel Gibson or other public figure, has had one drink too many, opens his mouth and lets loose anti-semitic, racist, sexist, hate-filled, angry, snivelling or generic rants within reach of an unforgiving microphone, camcorder or journalist’s pen, for which he spends the rest of his life apologising or back-paddling from.

Note: While this term fills a lexical void, it is obviously not a real syndrome. It got 28,600 hits on 27/01/2013 and warrants inclusion, since other Hollywood celebrities–e.g., Russell Crowe, may acquire the disease.

Synonym Drunk celebrity syndrome, drunk loose tongue syndrome
