An unmarried shop worker from Spain who sparked global controversy when she became a mother at age 66. She lied about her age to get fertility treatment at a clinic in Los Angeles–why is always California?–for which she paid £30,000. Her family called her “selfish and irresponsible“.

Shortly after the birth of her twin boys, Christian and Pau, 29.12.2006 by C section in Barcelona, she was diagnosed with cancer.  She said in an interview that she believed that God would keep her alive; it was wishful thinking; she died in July, 2009, confirming the well worn phrase, God protects fools and children…but apparently not fools with children
