Definition A popular term for the inability to initiate the flow of urine in public places. It more commonly affects males and is regarded as a phobic disorder. 

Synonyms Air-blockage, bashful bladder, bashful bladder syndrome, bashful kidneys, creeping pee-pee, mental cloggery, paruresis, paruria, pee fright, pee-shyness, psychogenic urinary retention, public piss syndrome, shy bladder syndrome, slow dribbles, (urinary) stage fright, urophobia, vesica pundenda Note: The preferred medical term is paruresis; the most commonly used lay term is shy bladder
