Porsche girl

Porsche girl image from New Medical Terms

A common nickname for Nicole Catsouras (1988-2006), a young woman who took her father’s Porsche 911 Carrera and drove it into a toll booth in Lake Forest, California; she was killed on impact; traces of cocaine were found in her system.

As part of the investigation, photographs of the wreck scene were taken by the California Highway Patrol–CHP, one of whom sent the digital images to others. The coroner regarded the photos of the accident too gruesome to allow Nikki’s parents to identify her body. Unfortunately, the images went viral and were posted online, some of which had highly offensive captions–e.g., Woohoo Daddy! Hey daddy, I’m still alive. Her family sued the CHP, withdrew from internet use and began homeschooling her younger sister.

The Porsche girl controversy primarily hinges on the question of what constitutes bad taste and where should people draw the line as to what is too ugly or sick to post…apparently nothing.
