acute thespian syndrome

A nonspecific term for an elaborate act or series of acts by a patient seeking to achieve a particular end* from his/her health care providers.

*Including primary, secondary or tertiary gains. Given the relative paucity of hits, this term is best regarded not as an entity a sui generis, but rather one which overlaps other better defined entities. It is little used in the working medical parlance

Synonyms Malingering, MGM syndrome
