Erasmus Placement

An elective placement of a student with Erasmus, the European Commission’s flagship exchange programme for Higher Education students, teachers and institutions.

It was introduced with the aim of increasing student mobility within Europe and forms part of the EU Lifelong Learning Programme (2007-2013). It encourages student and staff mobility for work and study, and promotes trans-national co-operation projects among universities across Europe.

Desiderius Erasmus Roterodamus (1466-1536) was a Dutch Renaissance humanist, priest, theologian, and classic scholar who was critical of the Catholic Church, but unlike the Reformers of the day, focused on driving change from within the Church. He retranslated the New Testament into Greek and Latin and penned such page turners as The Praise of Folly, Handbook of a Christian Knight, On Civility in Children, etc.
