verb A slang verb, most commonly used by doctors in training, for what occurs when a doctor tries to turf* a patient to another service with too little buff**–and the patient is re-admitted to the service (i.e., bounces back) of the would-be turfer.



Synonym Rebound 



noun A term of art for a parameter used to benchmark engagement—the degree to which viewers of a particular website are interested and remain on the website. A high bounce rate means that viewers leave almost immediately; a low bounce rate means that viewers are engaged and remain on the website for extended periods of time.
