PSYCHIATRY

A popular term for a mother’s murderous hatred of her own child or children, driven by the desire for revenge against her husband.

Medea of Greek mythology was a sorceress and wife of Jason, who imprisoned her when she decided to marry Creusa; Medea responded by killing their children (Mermeros and Pheres) after Jason deserted her.
