SUBSTANCE ABUSE

A kit formerly produced by Puck Technologies, Signal Hill, California, which was intended to help the user to fraudulently pass urine drug tests.

The Whizzinator (WZ) got its 15 minutes of fame in 2005 when Onterrio Smith, a former Minnesota Vikings running back, was caught with one at the Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport, resulting in his suspension from the team. The company’s CEO and Veep got their 15 minutes in 2008 from federal prosecutors in Pittsburgh who won a 19-count indictment against Puck Technologies for defrauding the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, which administers US federal workplace drug testing programs. The CEO did 6 months in the federal pokey. Similar products are available on the internet under different names.

Note: The name derives from the highly colloquial Americanism, to whizz (urinate)

Contents of kit Dried urine, syringe, heater packs–to keep the urine at body temperature, a false penis in various skin tones–white to black, and instructions.
