A popular proprietary e-cigarette which delivers vapourised nicotine to the user without the tars and toxins inherently present in burned and ashed tobacco.
The system simulates traditional cigarettes with a glowing orange light, the brightness of which reflects the amount of negative pressure at the “filter”. There is no smoke and odour–i.e., non- “smokers” are not exposed to passive smoke. The manufacturer claims that NJOY delivers a rich authentic flavour and costs less than regular cigarettes. It is heuristically logical that e-cigarettes are less unhealthy, but the current (2017) data is weak.
Regulation The FDA’s efforts to regulate e-cigarettes as drug delivery devices were thwarted in federal court.
