Comment Beedis are of interest in occupational medicine, as they are manufactured as a cottage industry which exposes workers to high levels of cotinine. Beedi manufacture is acknowledged to be dangerous to the 3 million (of which 325,000 are children) workers who produce them–but not eating for lack of money is worse.
