meth mouth

A popular term for the advanced tooth decay typically associated with heavy methamphetamine* use, which the American Dental Association attributes to a combination of dry mouth, poor dental hygiene, high consumption of carbonated beverages, teeth clenching (bruxism) and, per the Pennsylvania Dental Association, methamphetamine’s acidity.

*Similar changes occur in those who abuse other drugs–e.g., methylphenidate, cocaine, and crack.
