ENVIRONMENT

Definition A coral reef disease characterised by focal to multifocal lesions of live coral tissue located over the colony surface, surrounded by normal appearing tissue. The lesions may be distinct brown to purple, and have round to amorphous to oblong areas of discolouration, with smooth to gently undulating edges. 

The term is included here given the potential for confusion with a medical disease or syndrome
