RESEARCH

Definition An outbred strain of rat (Rattus norvegicus) which is widely used in research. They are albino with red eyes, docile and produce large–average 11 pups–litters, and were first produced in 1925 by the Sprague Dawley farms in Madison, Wisconsin.
