ZOOLOGY

A state induced in lab rodents by hormonal stimulation, sterile coitus or mechanical stimulation of the cervix with a glass rod, which triggers a neuroendocrine response, release of prolactin and retention of the corpus luteum, resulting in physical manifestations of gestation without a fertilised product(s).
