GENETICS

Definition A contiguous gene syndrome (OMIM:612469) defined by the acronym WAGRO: Wilms tumour, Aniridia, Genitourinary abnormalities and mental Retardation–WAGR syndrome, with the additional finding of Obesity.

Molecular pathology WAGRO syndrome is due to microscopic or submicroscopic deletions in chromosome 11p13-p12 in a region containing WT1 (OMIM:607102), PAX6 (OMIM:607108), and BDNF (OMIM:113505) genes.
