Definition An über rare disorder (OMIM:203655) characterised by absence of hair over the entire body and lack of hair within the follicles on skin biopsy.

Molecular pathology Defects of HR, which encodes a protein involved in hair growth, that acts as a transcription corepressor of multiple nuclear receptors, cause alopecia universalis congenita. 

Synonym Alopecia—generalised, ALUNC
