mediolateral oblique view
Definition A standard mammographic view taken from an oblique or angled position, which is regarded as the most important projection in mammography as it allows imaging of the most breast tissue and is preferred over the lateral 90º projection.
MLO view of breast by mammography
With the MLO view, the pectoral muscle should be depicted obliquely from above and visible down to the level of the nipple or further down. The muscle should bulge outward as a sign that it is relaxed.
