A radiologic finding consisting of a rounded island of sclerotic bone or sequestrum lying in a “punched-out” osteolytic lesion of the diploë of the skull, hip or elsewhere, which is classically seen in eosinophilic granuloma (Langerhans cell histiocytosis).

Button sequestra are also seen in osteomyelitis, tuberculosis, staphylococcal infection, metastatic cancer, myeloma, radiation necrosis, meningioma, benign bone tumours, and ventriculoatrial shunts.
