A term that appeared in Eric Hoffer’s same named book published in 1951, which referred to the continued belief in paranormal and psychic events and phenomena, even after they have been clearly proven to be staged or fraudulent.
True believers’ philosophy is encapsulated in the phrase, My mind is made up, don’t bother me with the facts.
