FORENSICS, PSYCHOLOGY

(1) A crime–e.g., defacing public property, shoplifting, gang rape, which, when committed by a member of a “herd”–e.g., teenagers–is often repeated by the herd’s other members.

(2) A crime committed by a large segment of a particular population–e.g., cheating on taxes, rolling through a stop sign, taping movies on a VCR.
