A popular term for a person whose circadian period is longer than 24 hours, who wakes up before his/her peak hour of sleepiness, and typically is pretty grumpy in the a.m.

Night owls shuffle around in the morning, clutching their coffee cup as if it were Nanny’s paw; they are cranky; if you’re too chirpy, they’ll shoot to kill
