Definition A somewhat self-explanatory term referring to the volume of dialysate fluid used in adult continuous ambulatory peritoneal dialysis before drainage.

Comment Dwell volumes are typically 1500 ml to 2000 ml, and can be adjusted based on body mass index, waist circumference, intraperitoneal pressure, and other parameters from the peritoneal equilibrium test.
