caffeine breath test
A non-invasive method for studying CYP1A2 activity that is suitable for children age 3 and above, which consists of the oral administration of a stable isotope and collection of breath samples for 2 hours. Breath samples are then analysed by continuous flow isotope ratio mass spectrometry.
The test has been used to study drug interactions and the effect of disease on drug metabolism.
